A new beginning...

Fotografía de Paso is moving, I have decided to change to a new location. For anybody who is interested, the new direction is http://hgadling.tumblr.com/

I'll try to keep this blog updated with whatever I post in the new one, at least for a while. But don't quote me on that.

Good luck and see you in my new place!

The picture was taken with a Holga loaded with 35mm film.

Morro Fi

At Consell de Cent 171, corner of Carrer Borrell, Marcel serves the best Vermut in town.

He's also got a blog about bars and restaurants in Barcelona:

Metropolitan Summer

This was taken almost three months ago.

I have been busy with a lot of things, so the picture stayed in my new camera, unnoticed, until three weeks ago. And then I didn't think about it again until today. It was the first choice to upload to the blog after the summer.

Hi and welcome back.

K-x!

I have a new camera, and this time it's a DSLR! It is a Pentax K-x, with all the megapixels in the world, ASA up to 12800 (that's nightvision!) and so many features that I'm sure I will be busy for a long time learning to use it.

Anyway, the first subject was, as it should be, a well known one.

Pitu super macro

I like the focal distance effect, very visible in all the pictures.

Double

Like most double exposures, this was a happy accident. The amount of things that blend in one picture when both exposures are good is amazing.

By the way, the olive oil bottle was the subject of one of the pictures. The cat was the subject of the other one.

The Cat and the Fish

Mmmmm... well... Roar!

And something else: The Big Picture, a photojournalism blog of the Boston Globe, has a story about the eruption of Mt. St. Helena in Washington State 30 years ago. The truth is, I had never heard of it, but the pictures, and the story behind, are amazing. Just a recommendation.

Today, Paris

One more place in the world where I could use my little but very powerful Fisheye and a 400 ASA film. It was my first time in Paris but I won't put any picture of the Eiffel tower, basically because I didn't take any. I took these ones instead:

That counter just hit 1000

I have 1000 visits to talk about, a number I am proud of and that I totally owe to my fans (you know who you are). It's been several years, and a higher number of posts than I expected, given how lazy I am.

But let's be frank, there's a world out there designed to share and look at pictures, which is more user friendly than a blog. So, it's about time I start using flickr, and if someone wants to see the whole lot, here is the link:

and the coolest pictures will still make it to Fotografia de Paso.

Health Care Day

Today I went to Capitol Hill to see what was up. As a matter of fact, a lot was going on. The March for America was on the Mall and walking up, and on the other side, Health Care Reform protesters (both for and against) had gathered for a little #angrymobbing. Here's what I took with my Fuji Finepix.

As of now, the hcr debate is not over, but it looks like the bill will pass. If you have any interest, Egocrata is doing a good coverage in spanish, and Ezra Klein would be a good option if you prefer english.

Better than a stairway

So, apart from snowstorms, there is life in D.C. This are two pictures taken in the escalators to the Metro with my fisheye. It takes about two minutes and a half to climb, up or down, the whole thing if you don't walk.

Snowmaggedon

Some pictures of the aftermath of the historic snowstorm that hit Washington D.C. between the 5th and the 6th of February. Coming up, I'll add some taken with the Fisheye and the Holga, if I can find where to develop 120 mm film in this city.
